Walking in Expectancy: Living with the Power of the Holy Spirit

Writer: Pastor Romi MoodyPastor Romi Moody

Scripture:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” — Acts 1:8

As women of God, we are called to walk daily with the expectancy of the Holy Spirit moving in and through us. There is a difference between simply knowing the Holy Spirit, being a friend to Him, and fully experiencing His presence when He comes upon us. Many believers acknowledge the Holy Spirit, but few truly grasp the supernatural power that is released when they surrender fully to Him.

1. Walking With the Holy Spirit vs. The Holy Spirit Coming Upon You

When the Holy Spirit dwells within you, He is your comforter, guide, and friend. He teaches you, convicts you, and leads you in truth (John 14:26). But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, there is an outpouring of supernatural power—miracles happen, strongholds break, and revival ignites!

Think about the disciples. They walked with Jesus, knew the Holy Spirit, and even performed miracles. But in Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit came upon them, they went from being followers to being bold, empowered vessels who changed the world. That same power is available to us today!

2. Walking into Worship with Expectancy

When we walk into church, we should already be walking in expectancy—ready to encounter God’s power, be sharpened by the Word, and see the Holy Spirit move mightily. Imagine if every believer walked into a service already in alignment with the Holy Spirit, anticipating miracles, breakthroughs, and revival. Worship would shift. Hearts would change. Revival would be unstoppable!

Unfortunately, many women enter church distracted, entangled in gossip, jealousy, or comparison instead of uplifting one another. We must choose to be women who sharpen each other (Proverbs 27:17), not tear each other down. When we grasp the hem of His garment through prayer, worship, fasting, and the Word, we step into the divine authority God has given us.

3. Worship as Warfare: The Power of His Presence

In the Bible, worshippers went before every battle, and the victory was won because God went before them (2 Chronicles 20:21-22). Worship is warfare. It shifts atmospheres, breaks chains, and invites the presence of God to move.

But attending church, volunteering, or simply hearing the Word does not mean you are filled with the Holy Spirit or bearing His fruit (Galatians 5:22-23). We are called to be doers of the Word, not just hearers (James 1:22). Our lives should reflect the power and presence of God—not just on Sundays, but every single day!

4. Revival Starts With You

Revival doesn’t start in a building; it starts in you. If you walk into every space—your home, workplace, church—with the fire of the Holy Spirit, lives will be changed. What if instead of waiting for a move of God, you carried it with you? The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is supernatural, but we must seek Him daily through:

• Prayer – Aligning our hearts with God’s will

• Reading His Word – Strengthening our spirit in truth

• Fasting – Removing distractions and drawing closer to Him

• Walking in Authority – Knowing who we are in Christ

Declaration:

“I will walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit. I refuse to settle for complacency. I will enter every space with expectancy, believing for the supernatural. I will build up my sisters in Christ, not tear them down. I will worship in spirit and in truth, knowing that my praise is my warfare. Revival starts with me, and I am a vessel for God’s glory!”

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I welcome You to move in and through me. I don’t want to just know You—I want to be filled with Your power. Let me walk into every moment with expectancy, carrying Your presence. Break every chain of division, gossip, and complacency among Your daughters, and raise us up as warriors for Your Kingdom. Let my life be a reflection of You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Final Encouragement:

You are not just a churchgoer—you are a revival carrier. You don’t have to wait for someone else to usher in the move of God—you are the move of God! Walk boldly, worship fiercely, and expect the power of the Holy Spirit to transform everything around you.

Vision Church

Do you ever wonder where and how you will get your next meal?  For most of us, we do not worry about this.  Unfortunately, many people still go without a decent meal every day.  Vision Church opens the kitchen in order to serve a hot meal and provide a bag of groceries to the homeless people in our community.
