Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’” — John 11:25
The story of Lazarus in John 11 is a powerful reminder that Jesus has authority over life and death. When Lazarus fell ill, his sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus. But instead of rushing to heal him, Jesus waited. By the time He arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days. To everyone watching, it was too late hope was gone, the grave was sealed, and decay had begun.
But Jesus, full of resurrection power, stood before the tomb and called Lazarus forth. What was once lifeless responded to the voice of the Savior. The impossible became possible because Jesus is the resurrection and the life.
Maybe there’s something in your life that feels beyond hope. A broken relationship, a lost dream, a spiritual dryness that seems too deep to recover from. But just as He did with Lazarus, Jesus can resurrect what seems dead. His power is not bound by time, circumstances, or human limitations. Even when it looks like all is lost, He speaks life into impossible situations.
If you are facing something that feels beyond redemption, remember: Jesus specializes in bringing dead things back to life. Surrender your situation to Him, trust in His timing, and watch as He calls forth new life where there once was none.
Prayer:
Jesus, I believe You are the resurrection and the life. Nothing is too far gone for You. Breathe new life into the places in my life that feel dead, and help me trust in Your perfect power. In Your mighty name, Amen.
